SHE SPEAKS!

A few days ago, Aunty Meridth called me (Aunty Adri) to tell me one of the greatest Uschi Sushi stories to date.

At the time, Meridth and Uschi were staying with Uncle Edward's parents. This was because Uncle Edward was off training for secret Army things until the middle of September. Aunty Meridth was waiting to move to the next place they would be stationed (Clarksville, Tennessee). She didn't want to stay in a hotel to wait for Edward to get back, and she likes his parents, so she and Uschi stayed with them in Indiana for a few weeks while they got ready to move.

One day, Aunty Meridth's doggie, Radar, got loose! He's a very good dog, but loves to chase and be chased. So when he gets out, if you run after him, he thinks it's all a big game and will run fast and far because that you are trying to play with him. Because of this, Meridth knew she had to be careful when trying to get her doggie back inside. She knew she couldn't search for Radar very well if she was holding her baby Uschi, so she gave Uschi to her Grandpa Gimbel.

Meridth commenced the search for Radar, all the while calling out his name as loudly as she could. Suddenly, a few houses away, she heard (in a crystal clear, 4 or 5 year old voice), "RADAR!!!!" It was Uschi Sushi pants yelling for her missing pup! According to her Grandpa, she then looked at him in concern and said, "Radar? Radar!"

*Please note that Uschi is only 12 and 1/2 months old. She can say a handful of words, but has never said anything so clearly, all the while understanding exactly what she is talking about!

What a smarty pants!

Uschi Sushi: Comedian Girl...

I (Aunty Adri) was on the phone with Aunty Meridth the other day when she began to laugh. "Why on Earth did she do such a thing?!" might you ask.

To my understanding, it was because Uschi felt it necessary to make her Mother laugh. She did this by squeezing her shoulders up to her ears (making her neck vanish), stretching the corners of her mouth to the bottom of her face and squinching her eyes together and sucking in breath while making the  weez of an old man (see picture to help illustrate it).

She also tends to open and shut her mouth like a fish gasping for air, while making a "na na na na na na" sound. During such performance, she has completely serious eyes. But once the face is done, laughs at herself as she realizes her comedic genius.

Uschi also loves to grab a hold of her dear mother's face and make alien or animalistic sounds while contorting her face in abnormially humours ways.

Apparently her little daughter has become a little comedian...and is quite aware of her whit!

Squeeker squeek squeekin.

So Ursa minor has been pretty congested of late. I'm sure as newborn this would be frustrating and quite confusing. Anyway, being the terrible parents we are, we have been delighting in the squeeky noises she makes. It almost sounds like somebody jumping around in a vinyl suite.

Anyway, I obsessively have to post more pics of Uschi.

Hee haw.

Alas, alak.

I'm not so sure about this bath thing.

Nevermind.
